Lily is One--Photo Shoot
Easter 2011
After church Lily and Nathan had a quick modeling session in her very first Easter Dress. It took me a long time to find but she looked adorable. We did get some professional pictures done too that I will share later
The family attended the annual Nu Skin Easter Egg hunt. I was one of Lily's first public appearances.
Here is some video before the hunt.
And the hunt is on. Go dad, go!

Time is Flying By...
Wow the entire summer seems to have flown by and here we are with the leaves falling off the trees and so much that I haven't updated. Well here we go with a ton of pictures and updates from the summer.
Lily's 1 Year Old Party
On Memorial Day Lily helped us take flowers to Gandpa Obershaw and had fun with Aunt Gwen and Aunt Cecile.

We went to Deer Creek with the Johnson's and Farmer's over the fourth of July Weekend. Lily had a great time riding on the boat, playing in the water and having a picnic lunch.

Rockin' the Headband
Today I came home from work to see this silly girl running to the door. She had pulled her headband down and was cruising around with the eighties sweatband look. She was singing and laughing--I loved it.
The picture is a little blurry because I can't seem to get her to slow down long enough to actually get a clear picture lately.

It has been a year since Lily came home
On August 5, 2010 Lily came home from the hospital. It was one of the most exciting and scary days of my life. For the first 33 days of her life she was watched over and we were trained by the professionals at the Utah Valley NICU, but now we were going to be on our own.
That morning we went to give Lily her morning bottle and see how she had done through the night, to make sure she was still on track to come home. She, of course had done great and was ready to come home. We still had to wait for the doctor to come around and check her out before she was discharged and since Lily needed to sleep, Nate and I took one last opportunity to go eat together. We went to Mimi's for breakfast since it was about 8:30 am. We went to the craft store to buy some materials to make bows for Lily's hair and pick up a few more onsies. We were so excited to go get Lil, but they told us to come back some time after 10am to make sure the doctor had a chance to do her examination.
Well 10 am rolled around and we were right there to get her. We packed up all her things, received the last instructions from the nurse and we were ready to go. Wow she was still so little!
Nate went down to get the car and the NICU nurse walked Lily and I down to the front entrance of the hospital. The Nurse checked out Nate's installation skills to approve that the car seat had been properly installed. Yes he passed that test with flying colors. Then we both got in the car. We hadn't even made it out of the parking lot when Nate broke down in tears. I think all the stress from the past 33 days and the thoughts of us being on our own had finally surfaced. I don't know why he was so nervous he is amazing with Lily and currently prefers to hang out with "dad-a-da" as he is currently referred to.
Here is a picture of Lily in her bouncer, which later became her bed because it was the only place she would sleep for months afterward.
She is as beautiful today as she was the day we brought her home. I can't believe how much she has grown and the attitude she has now. We are so blessed to have her as part of our family.
We went out to eat to celebrate her 1 year home anniversary.

Lily learns a new move
Yesterday was an interesting day for Lily. I guess she decided she was not going to take her afternoon nap. After being in her crib quietly playing for nearly 45 minutes I received a text from Jessica that Lily was still just playing in her crib. I told her to go ahead and go up and check to make sure she didn't have a messy diaper and to read her a book and have quiet play time for a few minutes and then put her down for her nap again. She did all of this and no luck. Then about 45 minutes later I get a text saying that now Lily has removed her pants and is twirling them around her head along with several other moves. Oh boy--she didn't learn that from me I promise.

June has been a fun month
We have had a crazy and fun month full of doctor visits and adventures.
For starters it was good old Springville's Art City Days. Unfortunately, I missed the deadline to enter Lily into the cute baby contest--your welcome other Springville babies I gave you a chance to win this year. We had fun walking around the booths and eating cotton candy.
Lily was rubbing her eyes raw so we took her into the doctor. She said it looks like Lil has some allergies and gave us some eye drops to try because while Lily is old enough to take Benedryl she does not weigh enough. The eye drops seem to be doing the trick and I have even used them to help with my itchy eyes too.
Then just last week I was able to take Lily to get her eyes checked. The Welcome Baby Program Nurse Cindy recommended that I get her in since she was a premie. Everything checked out and Lily's eyes are healthy and she does not need glasses--at least not yet. She will get checked again at 3 years.
She had her last home check with Nurse Cindy on the 28th. She weighed in at 18 lbs 14 oz and 28 inches tall. Because Lily is doing so well Cindy said that she didn't need to come back unless we have any concerns. She also said that we probably don't need to adjust for her developmentantally any longer. There are just a few of the 12 month things that she is not doing yet, but she is very close.
Last weekend we ventured to St George for the weekend and I discovered why so many parents would rather just stay home with little ones. There was so much to pack it was crazy. It doesn't help that I am a crazy packer and take everything but the kitchen sink. Oh well it was worth it to go visit Grandma Janet. We celebrated her birthday with Grandma, Uncle Blake and Uncle Ray. It was fun to watch her and of course she cried a lot. Well she epitomized It's My Birthday and I WILL CRY if I WANT to.

My First Mother's Day
May 2011 marked my first real Mother's Day. Last year I was only about 6 months pregnant with Lily and it was really nice to have so many wish me a Happy Mother's Day--I nearly cried several times that day. This year of course all I wanted was a good old fashioned after church nap with my daughter. Yep you guessed it Lil decided she was not going to take a nap and kept me up the whole time. If it wasn't her than Jack and Belle were barking at every leaf blowing in the wind. Ah well--I am sure she wasn't trying to sabotage my perfect Mother's Day she just wanted to spend time with me. I am looking forward to many, many more of these days in the years to come...
This is an image of my very first Mother's Day card from Lily. Thanks to our cute nanny Jessica who helped her craft it out of butternut squash and applesauce.

Lily's new talent
I am sure this year will be filled with Lily showing off all her new talents...yesterday she started clicking her tongue and a couple of days ago she discovered she can make the kissing noise. It is so fun to watch her figure out what we are doing and then mimick the sounds back to us. We have a busy week, the home nurse comes on Thursday to check up on Lily's progress and we have the NICU reunion party on Saturday. It is going to be a great week.

Lily is 10 months old
I can't believe that Lily turned 10 months old and I have not been great at documenting her milestones. I am starting this blog with the hope that it will help me be better at it.
Lily crawled up on her knees this morning for 3 "steps" I was so happy to see it. Of course she has been doing the army crawl and rolling for weeks now, but actual up on both knees hands moving forward crawling happened today! Way to go Lil!
